I’m Krzysztof (Kris) Hendzel. I am an artist working in the impasto technique, using palette knives — a technique in which paint not only creates an image, but builds space, breath, and a pulsating structure. In this density, in these layers of matter, I find my rhythm and my inner voice. My paintings are recognised not only by their form, but by the emotion embedded in their texture.
This site is a growing collection of my paintings, with selected pieces available to buy and new commissions welcomed.
About me
My journey as an artist began long before I ever picked up a brush. I grew up working with materials and tools, learning the discipline of craftsmanship… shaping timber, understanding grain, and developing a patience that now guides my painting.
During creation, I experience a unique kind of satisfaction — a strange, renewing emotion that returns each time I face the empty space of a canvas.
It rises intensely, almost tangibly, during the act of painting… and then fades the moment the work is complete. But it never disappears for long. It returns — in a new form, a new light, with new strength.
This happens every day.
It is a cycle I cannot and do not want to break.
A movement in one direction — toward a new impulse,
toward the emotion that will accompany me until the last day of my life as a human being and as a creator.
I create because in creation I find meaning.
I create because it is my way of living.
Creating each day feels like the only honest part of me I can bring into this world and share with others.
